Once in a Lifetime...!

This Tuesday, the planet of Love, beautiful Venus, is coming right across the center spotlight in our galaxy (in case you're in doubt, aye, it is the sun that we are talking about!) and such an event has to be seen for, well, it is quite rare and all...!

In fact, if we miss ogling Aphrodite's planet this time out, we will not have a second chance to do so until 2117, they say...! That is a long time coming and, even though peeps live longer nowadays and all, well, the odds just aren't there for us - now are they?

In terms of celestial events worth our attention, therefore, this one would score a strong 3.5 on a scale of 1 to 5. Think I am not generous enough? Come on now: a lunar eclipse, a shower of asteroids, a meteorite flying across our sky and crashing somewhere we don't really care about (usually that's either in the sea or in the Russian tundra territory! Sorry, former comrades - we just don't care! Greenpeace worries more about the sea mammals and assorted fishies that might be momentarily inconvenienced by some astral object crashing into their habitat, perhaps killing a hundred of them, than by your frozen piece of landscape getting another huge dent in it - come on! Greenpeace and us - both! But we're digressing now...) - in brief, there are so many more celestial events truly worthier of us giving them our time and nod of approval to...!

Now, Venus, if part of a cosmic alignment that has all of our Milky Way lined up like Rock Hudson's Pretty Maids All In A Row, with the Sun to boot, now THAT would be scoring a 5 on the scale!  Earth being part of that alignment, though, makes it difficult to truly enjoy in full - but it is supposed to be coming up, too...! So we'll give it proper attention as well. Unless the 2012 end of the world gets postponed like all the others were...! Drats. That would put a damper on the sheer magnitude of it all - now wouldn't it?

Odds are, doomsday will get rained out indeed - ignominiously cancelled (and not quite at the last minute either) as all the other predicted ends-of-everything-that-you-know were, over the centuries...  For it seems as the famed "alignment" sort-of already took place, it would appear - last year. There would to be astronomical odds against every gooey globe out there aligning perfectly well with one another for a second year in a row - no? Finally, all the credible astronomers show a serene front, in perfect consensus and remarkable show of unity that even the starry objects would be hard-pressed to emulate, so, indeed, we can forget all about it now!

Too bad for the Mayans' rep. Or the Greco-Roman-Atlantean of Sumerian descent.  The truth is, they had their fun - and now it's our fun time.  It's our turn to enjoy the great outdoors, the flowers blooming, the fresh air (if we can still find it in our urban life-driven environments, that is!) and the myriad joys of simply threading upon this earth that we were born upon!  Why would anyone want it to end? Actually, the millenialists and other doomsday prophets don't really want it to "end" at all - they want to inherit it! They want, in fact, to take it all over! The meek shall inherit the Earth - correct?  And so, the end of the world is not so much the destruction of the planet at all, but really something of a cleansing of it. Like when you acquire an old car and refurbish it, give it a new engine, a new polished shine, new tires - the works? The end is a new beginning wished for by these people, so that they can enjoy all the good things in life amongst themselves, while the others, those annoyances, have been banished to some netherworld never to be seen, heard of, suffered in any way EVER AGAIN!  The end is, therefore, a new beginning - minus anyone and anything that annoys thee!

In that optic, any notion of impending cosmic calamity has to be dismissed - and, perhaps, the initial meaning of the (very Greek) word APOCALYPSOS has to be grasped, all over again: that of a REVELATION, forthcoming. Nothing less and nothing more than that.

But that is another story - for another blog, part of the TLB Prime Network!

For now - all we have to do is enjoy the warmth of our sun, the summer breeze (it makes you feel fine - you know it!) and the wonders of nature, still, somehow, untouched and left alone by man's grubby hands!  All those other ancient tribes had their time to partake of it all - now, it is our time!

Let us *all* enjoy our time - in peace and in harmony (as much as we can...!)
Life Goes On...
